AI rendering basics
Last updated: April 28, 2026
Visualize your designs with AI in Motif is simple — no prior rendering knowledge or skills required. This article walks you through the rendering basics.
What can you render?
Renderings in Motif can be made from almost anything placed on your board:
A saved camera view of a 3D model
An imported image or photo
A sketch created in Motif or any other app
Tip: If an image or view placed on a Motif board is visible within a saved view, it will show up in the rendered output. To avoid unwanted elements appearing in your render, create a separate board for your renders.

How to open the render menu
Click on any image or view on the board to open the AI-rendering menu.
One-click rendering
Once the render toolbar is open, simply press the the up arrow on the right side of the toolbar, without selecting any presets. Motif will automatically fill in the details and produce an architectural visualization — even if the original image has no defined colors or materials yet.
Note: Motif AI renders are fast, but each render still takes a moment to complete.

Styles and modifiers
Use Motifs predefined modifiers to give your render architectural styling
Visualization styles (learn more here ->📄 Visualization styles)

Scene modifiers (learn more here ->📄 Scene Modifiers: Environment, Weather & Time of Day)
Output settings
Resolution (learn more here ->📄 Resolution control & upscaling AI renderings
Number of renderings
AI model (learn more here ->📄 Supported AI models)
Text prompting
The prompt box lets you describe your design intent in plain language, giving Motif's AI more context to produce accurate and targeted visualizations. It works alongside visualization styles and scene modifiers — or on its own. Learn more here ->📄 Using the prompt box
