Edit rendered images

Last updated: April 24, 2026

After generating a render, you can refine or adjust it in three ways: prompt-only edits, targeted selection edits, and image reference edits.

Accessing the edit tools

To enter edit mode:

  1. Click on a rendered image on the board

  2. Select the Edit option in the toolbar

Edit with prompt only

Prompt-only editing works best when you want to change something that affects the entire design uniformly — for example:

  • Change the entire facade to Corten steel

  • Change all windows to square windows

  • Make the exterior timber cladding

This approach is most effective for broad, global changes.

Start by simply clicking on the image you want to render from and click the prompt button to start typing your prompt:

Edit with selection (lasso) and prompt

For targeted changes that are difficult to describe with language alone, use the Lasso tool to select a specific region of the image, then write a prompt describing the change you want in that region.

Start by selecting the image you want to modify, and select the Image Editing button

Sketch the area you would like to edit

Then type in the prompt what you would like to edit about the sketched area

Edit with image references

You can use external images as references to guide material, texture, or atmosphere changes in your renders. This is particularly useful for exploring wall treatments, finishes, or ambient moods. Image Reference editing is best applied to already-rendered images, not original model views.

Steps:

  1. Group your images with the rendered image you want to modify

  2. Shift-select (or window-select) the reference image(s) along with the rendered image. You can select up to 14 total reference images

  3. The prompt toolbar will appear, and the target and reference images will be displayed.

  4. You can change the order of the images as you wish, which can help when you are prioritizing, for example, to have your primary output image as image reference 1

  5. Write a prompt describing what you want to happen:

    • Apply the texture from image2 to the wall on the right in image1

Result from the above example:

Other things you can do with image references:

  • Add ethnically specific people to a scene

  • Add specific foliage or landscape elements

  • Replicate an atmosphere or lighting from another photo

  • Apply specific colors or fabric textures
