Reviewing 3D models in Motif

Last updated: July 1, 2026

Motif lets you and your team review live 3D models together in the browser — principals, consultants, and clients can all join from a link, with no Revit or Rhino license required. This article walks through the full review workflow and points to the detailed articles for each step.

Steps

  1. Publish your model into Motif

    1. 📄 Stream and publish from Revit

    2. 📄 Stream and publish from Rhino

    3. 📄 Upload and place 2D + 3D assets

  2. Bring your team in

    1. Share the Board and anyone you invite can open the model in their browser -> 📄 Invite others to your organization or project

  3. Navigate the model together

    1. Orbit, zoom, and pan to explore the model from any angle -> 📄 Navigate the canvas

    2. Save Views to return to key vantage points -> 📄 Create Views for navigation and renders

  4. Mark up and section the model

    1. Sketch and markup in 3D — draw and annotate directly on the 3D model -> 📄 Sketch, markup, and comment

    2. Cut into the model — use a clipping plane to slice away geometry and review a section or interior -> 📄 Sketch planes and clipping planes

  5. Capture feedback that syncs back

    1. Comments on a published model sync back to Revit and Rhino

Tips for a smoother review

  • Set up Views before the meeting so you can move the group through the model quickly.

  • Keep the model updated so everyone is reviewing the current design, not a stale snapshot.

  • Anchor comments to the geometry rather than describing locations in words — it removes ambiguity when designers pick the feedback up in Revit or Rhino.
