Managing your subscription and billing

This article covers everything org admins need to know about Motif subscriptions — plan status, seats, renewal, promo codes, and where to find billing information. For specific tasks like starting a subscription after your trial or reactivating a lapsed subscription, see the related articles at the bottom of this page.
Who can manage billing
Only org admins can access billing and subscription settings. If you need to make changes and don't see the options described below, contact your org admin.
View your subscription status and renewal date
Open the Subscription page from the Avatar menu to view your current plan, seat count, and next renewal date.
💡 Your renewal date updates automatically if you add seats or change your plan mid-cycle.
Add or remove seats
Seats are billed per user per month. Your subscription adjusts based on the number of active members in your org.
To add a seat:
Go to the All Members page
Click +Add member and enter the person's email
The new seat is added to your subscription immediately and pro-rated
To remove a seat:
Go to the All Members page
Click the … menu next to the member you want to remove
Select Remove
⚠ Removing a member removes their access immediately. The seat adjustment takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Apply a promo code
If you have a promo code, you can apply it during checkout when starting or renewing a subscription.
On the Checkout page, look for the Add code field
Enter your code and click Apply
The discount will be reflected in your order total before you confirm payment
⚠ Promo codes can only be applied at checkout and cannot be added retroactively to an existing billing cycle.
Switch between orgs
If you belong to more than one Motif org, you can switch between them from the org switcher in the app. The org switcher is accessible from the Logo menu and also appears on the lockout screen if your subscription lapses, so you can switch to another active org without needing to log out.
