Build sheets and export a PDF

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Put your views on sheets to build a drawing set or client presentation, then export it as a PDF. Views on a sheet are live. When the model changes, your sheets update with it, so there's nothing to re-export from another tool.

Add a sheet

  1. In the left panel, open Sheets.

  2. Click Add sheet.

  3. Pick a sheet size.

  4. Give the sheet a number and name, for example A101 – Level 1 Plan.

Sheets are drawn at real-world paper size.

Place views on a sheet

Either:

  • Drag a view from the Views list onto the sheet, or

  • Right-click the sheet and choose Add view.

Then drag the view into position. A placed view is called a viewport.

You can also add text and images to a sheet, like a project title, general notes, or a rendering.

💡 Removing a viewport from a sheet doesn't delete the view. It's still in your Views list.

Views stay at scale

Each view appears on the sheet at the view's own scale. Change the view's scale in the properties and it resizes on the sheet automatically.

For example, change a floor plan from 1/8" = 1'-0" to 1/4" = 1'-0" and it doubles in size on the sheet.

To show less of a view, adjust its crop instead of scaling it down. See 📄 Create floor plans, sections, and 3D viewsfor full details.

Add a title block

Title blocks are assets. Find one in the Content Library and place it on your sheet.

💡 Using your firm's title block? If you don't have it as an asset yet, upload an image of it and place it on each sheet as an image.

Export to PDF

  1. In Sheets, choose the export option.

  2. Choose the sheets to include and their order.

Your PDF matches what you see on the sheets. Larger sets can take a moment to export.

Or ask the agent

The agent can create and number sheets, place views on them, assign title blocks, and export the set. For example:

  • "Create a sheet for each floor plan, numbered A101 onward, with the plan centered on each."

  • "Export sheets A101 to A105 as one PDF."

Good to know

  • What you see is what you export. Views on sheets should match the view exactly, and the PDF should match the sheet. If something looks different in the export, let us know at community.motif.io.

  • Callouts aren't supported yet.

  • Sheets from Revit can not yet be published into Motif Design. It's something we're actively working on. In the meantime, publish the model from Revit and build sheets from its views in Motif.
