September - October 2026 releases
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Motif Design keeps getting better every week. Here's a roundup of everything that's reached Motif Design since mid-September, grouped by area, with the biggest changes first in each section. If you're new to Motif, this is also a good tour of what you can do today.
🤖 AI agent
A more capable agent, powered by GPT-6 Astra. The agent, and the helper agents it hands work off to, now run on GPT-6 Astra by default. It's a big step up in how well the agent understands what you ask for and how well it builds it.
You stay in control of connected apps. Before the agent reads from or writes to an app you've connected, such as OneDrive or Teams, it shows you exactly what it wants to do and waits for you to choose Allow once or Deny.
It can see what you see. Ask about what's on your screen, like "what's that on the left?" or "how many doors can I see from here?" It can also look at screenshots and the images it creates, so its answers are based on what's actually there.
Turn drawings into models. The agent reads attached PDFs, and it can turn a single PDF page into an image to trace from, for more accurate results when you ask it to build a 3D model from a floor plan.
It can do more in your model. The agent can now work with selections, views, sheets, the camera, isolation, color overrides and deleting objects. It can edit text notes you've placed (fix a typo, move or rotate a note, bold a word), place dimensions against doors, windows and openings, extend existing dimension strings, and find and place content that's already in your model faster and more accurately.
It handles bigger jobs. Long-running calculations no longer just time out; the agent checks back for the result. Very large results no longer slow down the rest of the conversation. When code it writes hits an error, it fixes the problem itself in the same turn instead of getting stuck, and it no longer stops partway through a task just because it needs to check the same thing more than once. In planning mode, it draws on the most relevant skill before proposing a plan.
More choice for images. ChatGPT Images joins Gemini as an option for AI-generated images.
Smoother conversations. The chat warns you when a conversation is running low on room, and explains what to do if you hit the limit instead of showing a generic error. If you switch conversations while the agent is working, each conversation keeps its own actions, and a conversation you delete while the agent is still replying stays deleted.
✏ Drawing and modeling
Drafting Views for details and notes. A new kind of view built for the details, notes and drawings that don't belong to your 3D model. Each Drafting View has its own scale, can be cropped to a rectangle, supports visibility overrides, and can be placed on a sheet and exported like any other view.
Precise Move, Copy, Array and Rotate. Pick a start point and a destination point, both with snapping, instead of dragging by eye. While you work you'll see a see-through preview of the actual objects, not just a box. You can also place objects at exact X, Y and Z coordinates, including right at the model's origin.
A new way to rotate. Selected objects now show a ring of tick marks around them. Drag the ring to turn the selection, or click it to type an exact angle.
Arrays you can count. Type how many copies you want (from 2 to 100) instead of only dragging out a length. Doors and windows in a wall now come along when you array that wall.
Faster sketching. Hold Shift to draw a perfect square with any rectangle tool, including walls and floor, ceiling and roof outlines. Chained lines snap perpendicular to the one you just drew, at any angle, so rotated rectangles stay rectangular. You can type and Tab between dimensions while you're still drawing, and a new "collinear" snap keeps a line heading in its original direction while you drag its end.
Better doors and windows. Flip a door or window during or after placement to change which way it swings or which face of the wall it sits on. While placing a door, press Space to switch the swing side, and you'll see the swing before you click. You can also type exact distances while placing, change a door or window's depth to match a thicker wall, resize its height without it lifting off the floor or sill, and have it line up automatically with a nearby wall.
Edit many things at once. Select several copies of the same object and change their shared properties in one step. Values that differ show as "Mixed," and a single undo reverts everything. Walls, floors, ceilings and roofs can also take a color override, one at a time or in bulk, and multiple sheet viewports can be repositioned, rotated, scaled and cropped together.
Work with imported Revit walls. Walls that came in from Revit can now be moved, rotated, copied and arrayed in your model.
Floors, ceilings and roofs. Edit their thickness right from the on-screen dimension, choose their level from the Properties panel, and drag an outline edge without throwing off the angled edges next to it.
Smaller drawing improvements. A Free Transform button brings up the full 3D move and rotate controls for furniture and other free-standing objects. The Place tool stays ready for the next insert, so you can drop several copies in a row. The three-point arc is now drawn start, end, then a point it passes through.
🧲 Snapping
A faster, more consistent snapping system. Snapping is up to 35 times faster to find targets. Placing a new object now snaps exactly the way dragging an existing one does, cabinets snap to each other and to walls and windows, and guide lines appear along the main axes while you draw, move, rotate or array.
See what you're snapping to. The cursor now shows a short label such as an edge, a grid point, an axis, a wall or a level name, instead of just a symbol.
More things to snap to. The corners, edges, midpoints and center of placed images are snap targets, and lines can snap to annotation lines. Shift-rotate now snaps relative to the main grid, and the Measure tool stays locked to the active work plane.
📏 Dimensions and annotation
More dependable dimensions. Typing a new wall length moves the right end of the wall based on how it's connected, instead of sometimes skewing the room. Dimensions stay in place when one of the things they measure is deleted, as long as two or more references remain. They also stop at a view's crop boundary, angled dimensions stay attached after you move things, and values no longer flicker back to an old number while they update.
Cleaner text and labels. Bold or italic on the first letter of a word no longer spreads to the whole word. When level labels are crowded, they now move aside with a leader line instead of stacking on top of each other, on screen, on sheets and in PDFs.
Images that belong to one view. A placed image can now live in a single view instead of showing up across the whole model.
📚 Content Library
Find in library. Right-click any placed object and choose "Find in library" to jump straight to where it came from.
More built-in content. The library has been reorganized and now includes more cabinets, countertops, doors, windows and view tags. Items without a preview image show an icon for their category.
🔌 Revit and Rhino plugins
Switch between Motif Design and Motif Review from the plugin. A button in the plugin panel now lets you move between the two products, just like on the web. The plugins also use the names Motif Design and Motif Review instead of version numbers.
Always see the latest. Motif's model list refreshes automatically when a new version is published, and model thumbnails are sharper.
