March 2026 releases

Last updated: April 8, 2026

March was a big month for Motif, with major improvements across performance, publishing, comments, and AI rendering. Complex 3D scenes now navigate more smoothly, with better stability and memory usage across long sessions. Revit and Rhino plugins gained a redesigned publishing workflow, stronger crash resilience, richer comment interactions (copy, right-click actions, deep links, real-time updates), and improved worksharing behavior. AI rendering was upgraded with clearer availability indicators, better error messaging, fewer notifications, and new controls for resolution, aspect ratio, and upscaling—helping you iterate faster while conserving credits. Support resources and model options were also refreshed.

In-app help links and plugin menus have been updated to point to the Motif Community and current learning resources.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Saved Views Navigate to the Correct Location

Clicking a saved view now reliably takes your camera to the intended position. A bug that occasionally sent the camera to the wrong spot has been fixed.

Ghost Frames Resolved

Nesting a frame inside another frame no longer creates undeletable "ghost" entries in the Frames panel. Navigation to nested frames also works correctly.

Comments Stay in Sync Between Motif and Revit/Rhino

Comments moved on sheet sets in Motif no longer disappear in Revit. Comments moved in Motif also properly update their positions in Rhino.

Bulk Image Upload Improved

Uploading a large number of images (200+) to a board no longer results in errors.

View Cube Corner Zones Restored

Four missing corner target zones on the View Cube have been added, so all orientation shortcuts are now reachable.

AI Rendering in Frames Positioned Correctly

AI-generated images from a source inside a frame now appear near the source image instead of at a random location.

Sheet Set Order Preserved

Sheets published from Revit now appear in the correct order in the Scene Browser, matching your Revit project.

AI Resolution/Upscale Easier to Find

The resolution and upscale controls in the Properties panel have been moved to a more prominent location.

Deprecated AI Models Removed

Outdated video models (Veo3, Sora2) and the Imagen model have been removed from the model picker to avoid confusion.

Release 7

New

Enter Submits AI Prompts

Pressing Enter in the AI rendering prompt field now starts generation immediately — no need to click the submit button.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Major Frame Stability Improvements

This release includes 17 fixes to how frames handle images, text, sketches, and other elements. Key improvements:

  • Moving or duplicating a frame now correctly includes all images inside it

  • Images pasted or placed in a frame stay attached when the frame moves

  • Copy/paste and duplication within frames works reliably — content no longer disappears

  • Text and sketches now properly attach to frames

  • Box selection and hover selection work correctly inside frames

  • Z-fighting (image flickering) in frames has been resolved

Revit Plugin Stability

A crash in Revit 2025 when opening Manage Links has been fixed. Comment movement in the Revit plugin is also restored.

Clipboard Paste via Context Menu Restored

Right-click paste from the clipboard now works correctly — previously only Ctrl+V worked.

Comment Deeplinks Navigate to Correct View

Comment deeplinks placed on views now take recipients to the correct camera position with the comment thread visible.

AI Resolution Setting Persists

Changing the AI rendering resolution no longer reverts to the default when you click away from the view or image.

Release 6

New

AI Rendering: Choose Your Resolution and Aspect Ratio

You can now select image resolution (up to 4K) and aspect ratio directly from the AI render toolbar before generating. No more guessing what size your output will be.

AI Rendering: Cleaner Notifications

Running multiple AI renders no longer floods your screen with stacked toast notifications. All active renders are tracked in a single persistent notification until generation completes.

Toolbar Cleanup: Delete Tool Removed

The Delete tool has been removed from the toolbar to reduce clutter. Use the Delete key on your keyboard to remove selected elements — it works on all object types, not just sketches.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Comments Now Show Reply Field Correctly

Clicking a comment no longer fails to open the reply field. Replies, edits, and thread interactions work as expected across all element types.

Comments Can Be Repositioned

You can now move comments to new locations on the canvas and have them stay put after refreshing the board.

Images Load Reliably on All Boards

An issue causing images to fail to load on certain boards has been resolved. All images now appear as expected.

Empty Views Restored

A bug that caused some existing project views to appear empty has been fixed. Your saved views and their content are intact.

Views Navigate to the Correct Camera Position

Clicking a saved view now reliably takes you to the intended camera location in the scene.

View Cube Navigation Improved

The View Cube now only pivots the camera — it no longer causes unexpected movement or zoom jumps when switching orientations.

Asset Search Works with Dots in Filenames

Searching for assets with filenames containing a dot (e.g., exterior.png) now returns results correctly.

Resolved Comment Crash Fixed

Opening the resolved comments panel and clicking a historical comment no longer causes the app to crash.

Comment Deeplinks on Sheet Sets Fixed

Clicking a comment deeplink placed on a sheet set now navigates you to the correct location instead of the scene origin.

Release 5

New

AI Rendering Optimizations

We made some updates to the AI Rendering workflow to improve performance and give you more options to conserve rendering credits and reduce time.

  • Rendering count will default to 1 image, with the ability to generate up to 3 images, reserving 3 image option for when you really need it.

  • Nano Banana Pro renderings now default to 1k images, with the ability to upscale to 4k images

Redo Support

You can now redo an undone action with Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd+Shift+Z on Mac). No more opening the History panel to reapply changes you accidentally undid.

Clickable Comment Icons in Rhino

Comment icons in the Rhino plugin are now clickable — click any comment marker to jump straight into the comment editor, just like on the web.

Redesigned Comment Tool in Revit

The comment creation and editing experience in the Revit plugin has been redesigned for smoother workflows. The comment panel now opens contextually when the comment tool is active, with improved reply and editing flows.

🛠 Bug Fixes & Improvements

Revit Crash Stability

Resolved multiple crash scenarios in the Revit plugin, including a crash when publishing models and a compatibility issue with the latest Microsoft Edge update. The plugin is now significantly more stable during publishing and comment workflows.

Resolved Comments Now Disappear Automatically

When you resolve a comment in Motif or in the plugin, the comment marker now disappears from the 3D geometry in Revit and Rhino immediately — no manual refresh needed.

Comments No Longer Linger After View Deactivation

In Revit, comments associated with a view now properly hide when that view is deactivated, keeping your workspace clean.

AI Rendering Error Messages

When an AI render fails, you'll now see a specific message explaining what went wrong — instead of a generic error toast.

View Lock Respects Spacebar

Pressing Spacebar while hovering a face in a locked view no longer overrides the lock. Locked views stay locked.

Link Insertion Fixed in Plugin Comments

The "Add link" button in Revit and Rhino comment editors now works correctly — previously it produced a broken window.

Release 4

Revit Plugin Automation Support

The Revit plugin now supports automation events, enabling tools like Clarity (from Ideate Software) and Revit Batch Processor to automate publishing workflows. Teams can now set up scheduled, unattended model publishing to Motif.

Revit Worksharing Fixes

We've resolved several issues that affected teams using Revit workshared models with the Motif plugin:

  • Comments no longer disappear when syncing to central

  • Comment flyouts now open correctly after syncing

  • Undo/redo in Revit is no longer affected by Motif comments

  • Duplicate instance errors during sync have been eliminated

Revit Publishing Crash Resolved

A crash that occurred when publishing certain models from Revit to Motif has been fixed.

PDF Upload Fix

Adding a PDF through the Asset panel no longer hangs during upload. A related issue where the board failed to load after a failed upload has also been resolved.

Improved Error Messages for Large Models

When publishing a model that's too large for Motif to process, the error message now includes actionable guidance on how to reduce model complexity.

Comment Deep Links from Plugins Fixed

Comment notifications with @-mentions created in Revit or Rhino now correctly navigate recipients to the right board and comment.

Release 3

We're continuing to improve comments, performance, and overall stability. Here's what's new:

Right-Click Context Menu for Comments

You can now right-click on any comment in the canvas to quickly resolve, copy the link, delete, or hide it — no need to open the comment thread first.

Session Stability Improved

An issue that caused users to be signed out every 30–60 minutes has been resolved. Sessions now persist as expected.

Comments Panel Now Shows All Comments

Fixed an issue where the Comments panel was only displaying a subset of the comments placed on a board. All comments now appear correctly.

Real-Time Comment Thread Updates

Comment threads now update in real time when other users add replies — you no longer need to refresh to see new messages.

Comment Deep Links Fixed

Clicking a comment link from an email notification after signing in now correctly navigates you to the comment instead of showing a blank page.

Duplicate Comment Sprites Resolved

A visual bug that caused extra, unclickable comment icons to appear on the canvas when threads had replies has been fixed.

Memory Usage Improvements

Continued optimization of memory usage when navigating between boards, building on improvements from the previous release.

Release 2

Redesigned publishing experience in Revit and Rhino

The publishing workflow in both plugins has been redesigned for a smoother, more intuitive experience. Key improvements include the ability to publish any 3D view from Revit (not just the Motif 3D view), the ability to publish Rhino layer states, and an improved interface for both first-time and returning users.

Copy text from comments

You can now copy text from comments as plain text. Previously, copying comment text produced unusable output.

Bug fixes

  • Sheets can now be published from Revit independently, without needing 3D assets published first

  • Rhino documents saved via the close-confirmation dialog now correctly restore their Motif project association on next open

  • Updating or deleting published assets in Rhino 8 no longer causes the application to freeze

  • Navigating between multiple boards no longer causes increasing memory usage

  • The orbit tool now consistently pivots around the correct target point

  • Projects with large linked geometry (such as topography) can now be published successfully

  • Saving a view as PNG now uses the view name as the filename, consistent with JPG export

  • Opening the Comments panel no longer automatically activates the comment-creation tool

Release 1

Faster 3D performance for complex scenes

Scenes with many repeated objects — like detailed Revit models with furniture, structure, and facades — now render at significantly higher framerates.

Posterize render style quality restored

The Posterize AI render style has been updated to produce the intended architectural illustration look. A previous issue was causing unwanted text artifacts in Posterize renders.

AI model availability indicators

The AI model selection dropdown now shows a warning icon when a model is experiencing a service disruption, with details available on hover.
